Frequently Asked Questions 

  • How can I see the home?

    • Please fill out the online application.  If you qualify we will call you to set up an appointment to see the home. Viewings are by appointment only!

  • I filled out the online application what next?

    • We will review the application and contact you via email, phone call or text.  If you qualify for rental we will set up time for you to view the home. There will be a $25 application fee per applicant to complete the application process.  If you do not qualify we will let you know via email or text. 

  • How is my application approved/disapproved?

    • The initial application is to qualify for rental.  We are looking for enough income (4x the rent) to cover rent and expenses. How many people are in your family and whether we have a home available that will work for your family. As we continue the application process we will ask for verification of employment and income, references from previous or current landlords as well as a credit/criminal background screen.  This is performed by SMARTMOVE Transunion. For this there is a $25 non refundable fee per applicant. 

  • Do you accept EIC or Section 8?

    • We are no longer accepting EIC or Section 8 housing.​

  • Is there a security deposit?

    • We do not ask for a security deposit, but we do ask for first and last month's rent in advance.

  • Do you allow pets?

    • We allow 1 pet under 25lbs, with a $350 non refundable pet fee. Pets must also have proof of vaccinations. Pets are not permitted to be left outside unattended. Unauthorized pets are a violation of the rental agreement and can result in eviction or termination of rental agreement.

  • What about utilities?

    •  ​Utilities are not included with the rent.  Tenants must have the utilities transferred to their name before move in.  Most of our units are with Albemarle Electric and either Chowan County Water or Perquimans County Water.
